Description : The first International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ship with aid for Tyre residents arrived in the port of the south Lebanese city, with 120 metric tons of food and other basic essentials. The Panama-registered “Georgios” sailed from Cyprus where the ICRC has a relief storage facility. The ICRC aims to bring a total of 3,000 metric tons of aid per month to Lebanon through the end of 2006 by sea and by road, depending on the security situation. The aid will be distributed to 200,000 war victims and displaced persons in Lebanon.
