Fighting has been intensifying in northern Yemen. Often people have no choice but to flee to safer areas. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Yemeni Red Crescent have organized distributions of essentials household items for about 30,000 people so far. On 18 September 2009 aid was handed out in Khaiwan town.
