Description :
It is often women who bear the brunt of the suffering conflict brings. 28 year old Farzana Sadat has lived with violence most of her life. At the age of 14 she lost her leg in a landmine accident near her home in Kabul, Afghanistan. Four months later she was fitted with an artificial limb at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) physical rehabilitation centre in Kabul. She found work in the centre's laundry and today she is the head of the prosthetics department.
