Tuberculosis kills more than 50% of its victims if left untreated. The disease thrives in crowded, stuffy, dark environments such as prisons. In 2007, TB in Lurigancho Prison, Peru, used to be nearly 49 times higher than the national level. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is helping prison services in Lurigancho and across Latin America to eradicate the disease.
