It is estimated that 1,730 km2 of Iraq are heavily contaminated with unexploded weapons of war. International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) experts recently destroyed unexploded munitions in Missan governorate - freeing a population of 10,000 from the fear of death and injury.
