Description :
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) tries to assist the population amid violent fighting and confusion in Somalia. Insecurity makes the supply of medical and food relief to displaced persons who have fled the capital very precarious. In the northern part of Mogadiscio, where makeshift dispensaries set up in private houses cannot handle the influx of casualties, the Keysaney prison was transformed into a hospital by the ICRC. This hospital also provides medical supplies and drugs for hospitals of the south part of the city, where other humanitarian organisations are working. The Central Tracing Agency is also present in Mogadiscio, in the premises of the Somalian Red Crescent.
