Description :
The upsurge in conflict in South Sudan has forced tens of thousands of civilians to flee. In the town of Leer in Unity State, 500 kilometers north of Juba, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has temporarily suspended its activities due to lack of security. The humanitarian consequences of stopping our work has a deep impact on the population, already weakened by the ongoing conflict. Eric Marclay, the ICRC’s head of operations for East Africa, describes the current situation and our work in South Sudan.
