Description : Four years after the Second World War, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) convinced States to revise the laws protecting wounded soldiers and prisoners of war and to create a fourth Geneva Convention for the protection of civilians. Jean Pictet led a team of legal experts in the drafting of the 1949 Conventions. Among them was René-Jean Wilhelm. In this video, he and historian François Bugnion look back on this milestone in the history of international humanitarian law.
