Every year, worldwide, 38 million people die from noncommunicable disease (NCDs) such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and respiratory diseases. In Lebanon, NCDs represent the first and foremost cause of mortality and morbidity. Since the war in Syria started the arrival of increasing numbers of refugees has put an even greater strain on fragile public health services.
The ICRC is partnering with Novartis Access to improve necessary care and treatment to the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon, including Syrian and Palestinian refugees, as well as Lebanese people with limited access to healthcare.
