Fatuma and her family fled armed conflict in Mogadishu and have been living in a camp for the displaced in Beletweyne city, Hiraan region in central Somalia for several years. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is helping vulnerable families in the Beletweyne camps with cash assistance through mobile phone platforms. Fatuma is one of 875 women who have benefited from the programme, which aims to ensure that pregnant and lactating women have some financial freedom to invest in a business and buy essential food.
Fatuma y su familia huyeron del conflicto armado en Mogadiscio y viven desde hace varios años en un campamento para personas desplazadas en la ciudad de Beletweyne, región de Hiraan, centro de Somalia. El Comité internacional de la Cruz Roja (CICR) ayuda allí a familias vulnerables mediante programas de asistencia monetaria que se operan por teléfono móvil. Fatuma es una de las 875 mujeres beneficiarias de este programa, que procura brindarles a las mujeres embarazadas y lactantes cierta libertad financiera para invertir en un emprendimiento propio y adquirir alimentos de primera necesidad.
