For weeks the people of Damascus have faced acute water shortages. Fighting in rural damascus severely damaged the water system forcing people to queue for hours to collect water. Children have to carry heavy jerrycans of water home.
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the ICRC are providing water to over 10,000 people a day to neighbourhoods that are completely cut off.
But this is only a temporary solution. We urgently need access to help repair the damaged pipelines.
