Description :
Weapon wounds are some of the most complex injuries to treat and operate, particularly in Lebanon, where millions have fled because of violence in neighbouring countries and where internal disputes often leave people with severe injuries caused by weapons and explosive ordnance.
Since September 2014, the ICRC's Weapons Traumatology and Training Center (WTTC) in Tripoli provides reconstructive and emergency surgery, physical rehabilitation, orthopaedic care and psychosocial support to all people wounded by weapons, such as refugees from Syria.
The ICRC has more than 40 years of experience in war surgery and provides its services at the WTTC free of charge to all those in need, on a strictly neutral and impartial basis.
