Eight years have passed since Fatima's husband left Nicaragua for Panama to look for work. She and her daughter soon lost all contact with him, including his family.
Like them, thousands of families every year around the world lose contact with their loved ones by migratory processes, natural disasters, armed conflicts and situations of violence. This family separation generates multiple humanitarian consequences that can last throughout the life, including psychological affections.
For this reason, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are working to help re-establish family contact by offering free services such as telephone calls, internet points or red cross messages.
Ocho años transcurrieron desde que el esposo de Fátima salió de Nicaragua hacia Panamá a buscar trabajo. Ella y su hija pronto perdieron todo contacto con él, inclusive con su familia.
Como ellos, miles de familias cada año alrededor del mundo pierden el contacto con sus seres queridos por procesos migratorios, desastres naturales, conflictos armados y situaciones de violencia. Esta separación familiar genera múltiples consecuencias humanitarias que pueden perdurar durante toda la vida, incluyendo afectaciones psicológicas.
Por eso, el Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja y las Sociedades Nacionales de la Cruz Roja y la Media Luna Roja trabajan para ayudar a restablecer el contacto entre familiares, ofreciendo de manera gratuita servicios como llamadas telefónicas, puntos internet o mensajes cruz roja (cartas abiertas sin sellar).
