Description : The Waat clinic in South Sudan is overwhelmed, serving up to 70,000 people which is nearly double its intended capacity. Seasonal rains make it impossible for the sick to reach the nearest hospital, a nine-hour-walk away. For most of the patients, this clinic is their only access to healthcare services.

The ICRC is supporting the Waat clinic to ensure that people affected by conflict have access to basic healthcare services. Some other health facilities in the region closed down because of a lack of money, increasing the pressure on Waat.
