Description :
In the past year, a wave of violence has swept over the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Leaving thousands dead, villages burned and abandoned, and over a million people displaced. People hid in the forest for months. Starving, exposed, and with no access to health care. With a lull in the violence, people are starting to return.
Rebuilding. Working in the fields. Starting over.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) locates those most in need and gives them seeds and farming tools. They’re also getting money to buy what they need most. But it’s an uneasy calm. These traumatized people are obsessed with safety.
