Description :
“When I saw the wheat on my land, I felt newly born !” said Jabr, a farmer from Abassan, southeast of Gaza Strip, who is married and has ten children.
Jabr owns land in the restricted access area, 300 meters from the fence to Israel. He is one of many farmers, who cooperated with the ICRC to gain access to his land in the border area as close as 100 meters to the fence.
More than 300 Palestinian farmers in Gaza were able to access their lands in the restricted area after 15 years without access.
This initiative is the outcome of a dialogue between the Ministries of Agriculture and Interior in Gaza and Israel that was facilitated by the ICRC.
