For the past 20 years armed conflict has taken a catastrophic toll on the Eastern Congo. Medical supplies must travel several days to reach hospitals in need. Your donation helps us go the distance.
Each month, twelve tonnes of medical supplies leave Nairobi for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
It’s an eight day journey through four countries. Border crossings can take several days due to efforts to hunt down illegal arms and contraband. Difficult road conditions make travelling by boat one of the fastest ways to reach Bukavu.
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) surgeons working in the Eastern Congo treat more than 400 victims of war each year. None of this is possible without you. This just one of the thousands of journeys we undertake all around the world.
