Description :
In Myanmar (former Burma), a joint programme of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Red Cross national society was launched in 1990 to help victims of wounds by landmines. The ICRC doctors transport amputated persons who need treatment to one of the two hospitals of the country, where they can be fitted and rehabilitated. The ICRC also provides technical assistance and trains local orthopaedists and technicians.
