Description :
Maintaining contacts with family members is a fundamental humanitarian need and one of the rights granted to detainees by the international humanitarian law (IHL). For over fifty years, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been facilitating visits for families of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities through its family visit program. The ICRC facilitated more than 3.5 million family visits since 1968, an average of 34’400 visits per year.
