Description : The first expert meeting on principles for the proper management of the dead in humanitarian emergencies and to help prevent the Missing has taken place in Geneva on 30 November and 1 December, 2018.
It was organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Missing Persons’ Project, jointly with the Right to Truth, Truth through Rights Project of the University of Geneva.
A group of world-leading experts in the field of management of the dead has discussed over the two days the need for agreeing on principles to be followed by forensics to ensure that bodies of persons who have died in contexts of humanitarian emergencies are treated with dignity. This should in particular prevent unidentified persons from going missing, as it is currently still happening too often. Find out more about the outcome of this meeting by watching the video
