Description :
To meet the needs of women, men and children in strife-torn countries worldwide, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) procures items globally, with India emerging as one of the most important global hubs from which it sources goods and services.
Proliferation of conflicts has caused millions of children to face hunger and malnutrition. Today one of the worst crisis are in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), South Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Yemen...
Ready-to-use therapeuthic food is used in reabilitation and treatement phase for children and adults suffering from severe to acute malnutrition (SAM). ICRC bought specialised food worth more than 10 crore of International Normalized Ratio (INR) in 2017-1028 from Indian manufacturers.
ICRC'S Asia Sourcing Unit based in New Delhi finds India a major sourcing destination for Therapeuthic and Supplementary Food (RUTFs + RUSFs) that treat severe to acute malnutrition in children in conflit striken countries.
