Description : Universally ratified, the Geneva Conventions represent a unique and global commitment by States to humanity. Respect thereof continues to play a crucial role today in ensuring the protection of victims of armed conflicts.

Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, this event profiled instances of how international humanitarian law (IHL) have had a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable.

In an interview-style format moderated by Eva Svoboda, deputy director of International Law and Policy at the ICRC, humanitarian workers and victims of armed conflicts then shared some success stories of respect for IHL from the field.
