Description : "We left everything behind when we fled. We didn't even have a wrap to carry the baby." Espérance Kavira lives in North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her family is one who though it best to leave their home and all their belongings rather than risk their lives in the clashes between armed groups. She took refuge in Kanyabayonga. "We get on well with the family that has taken us in. We go with them to work in the fields, and we eat together what we produce." But the drought has caused a drop in production. And now there are more mouths to feed. Another problem is insecuriy, which prevents regular access to farmland. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has distributed food to 7,000 families throughout the area. "We have all just received food. We will eat morning and evening."
