Description :
The field hospital is joint initiative between the ICRC, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the Norwegian Red Cross, aimed at providing medical care for some of the most vulnerable people among the estimated 74,000 people living in the camp. The hospital will provide lifesaving surgical assistance to people who are in desperate need of medical attention. The situation in Al-Hol camp is overwhelming and dire. The situation in Al-Hol camp is overwhelming and dire. Since December 2018, more than 63,000 people have arrived in the camp. Today, about 74,000 people live in the camp. Around 90 percent of those living in the camp are women and children; more than half are children. The medical needs remain huge, including mother and child attention, surgery, mental health and physical rehabilitation. A particular concern is the large number of weapon-wounded patients who have limited access to surgical and post-surgical care.
Mustafa, a 39-year-ol Iraqi refugee, works as the team leader for the daily workers at the field hospital in Al Hol camp.
