The arms trade treaty was adopted in 2013. It is meant to reduce suffering by limiting the availability of weapons.
Today, arms transfers are at their highest level since the end of the cold war.
Arms continue to flow illegally or legally, across borders, addung fuel to devastating crises around the world : protracted conflicts, organised crime, forced displacement.
There's an urgent need to turn the treaty's words into actions and stop the suplly of weapons to those who misuse them.
