Following a large influx of wounded linked to intercommunal clashes in Jonglei state, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) admitted dozens of new patients at the Akobo County Hospital. Patients often arrive without caretakers. They are rarely able to purchase food and nutrition is key to recover from an injury. The ICRC team in Akobo hired two local cooks to ensure patients are well-fed. Ana Lucia Bueno, ICRC health coordinator, supervises the first steps of the new kitchen. A concrete building will soon host our two cooks.
