Many people go missing in the chaos of war. With the waiting, there is anguish and uncertainty for their families and friends. This short animation looks at how families are affected and how the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works to support them and find answers. People have the right to know what has happened to their missing loved one. Governments, armed forces and armed groups have an obligation to provide information and to help reunite families.
The ICRC works to find people who have disappeared in armed conflicts and other situations of violence and disaster and to help reduce the suffering of their families.
