Armed conflict has ravaged North East Nigeria. It’s been made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is building shelters for the displaced people, supporting the primary healthcare center and also registering people for seeds and tool distribution so that they can farm. There are a number of logistical challenges, now that Borno State is in lockdown. The situation at the Damboa primary healthcare center is very difficult because 30% of the healthcare facilities were destroyed as a result of the conflict. What may happen if the pandemic reaches this vulnerable areas is something many health professionals worry about.
