Description : Climate change affects all of us. But not equally. For people affected by armed conflict, climate change only makes matters worse. Health care systems are often devastated by conflict, when people need them most. And climate change puts health services under even greater strain. Increase in respiratory problems, greater food insecurity, rise of certain diseases. In some cases, extreme-weather events have destroyed health centers. Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths per year from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea and heat stress. 12 of the 20 countries considered most vulnerable and least capable to adapt to climate change are enduring an armed conflict. Conflict and climate change mean humanitarian disaster.
