Description :
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been facilitating the release of prisoners of war for years. When it's asked by parties to conflict for support, this is how it makes sure it's done humanely and safey :
1. It is not involved in negotiations between parties and on who gets released.
2. It meets each detainee in private to ensure thy want to go home.
3. Doctors and nurses assess the prisoners' health, making sure they are fit to travel.
4. When needed, it organizes and helps pay for their journey back to meet their family.
How can it do it ? Because the ICRC is neutral and impartial.
El Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja (CICR) tiene la experiencia necesaria para facilitar la liberación de los prisioneros de guerra, cuando las partes en conflicto solicitan su apoyo. El CICR toma estas medidas para asegurar que esto se haga de manera humana y segura: 1- No interfiere en las negociaciones entre las partes sobre quién será liberado.
2- Se reúne en privado con cada prisionero para confirmar que desea regresar.
3- El personal médico y de enfermería evalúa si los prisioneros están lo suficientemente sanos para viajar.
4. Si es necesario, el CICR organiza y paga el viaje que los reunirá con sus familias
¿Cómo puede hacer esto? Porque el CICR es una institución neutral e imparcial.
