The Arms trade treaty was adopted in 2013. It is meant tpo reduce the human cost of war by limiting the availability of weapons.
But to reduce the suffering, states must fulfill their obligations. The flow of arms across borders is on the increase. Adding fuel to devastating crises around the world: protracted conflict, gender based violence, organized crime.
There's an urgent need to turn the Treaty's words into action and stop the supply of weapons to those who violate the rules of war.
