Description :
The yearly olive harvest is an important event for Palestinians. It is a time for people to come together, and an important source of income. Many farmers encounter major obstacles to access their olive groves, especially in proximity to settlements where they must obtain permission from the Israeli authorities. This is only given twice a year, usually for just a few days – whereas proper care of olive trees requires around twelve visits throughout the year. International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works hard to ensure that farmers can access their lands safely during the harvest. This year, it assisted some farmers in Burin, Nablus to rehabilitate their damaged trees and equipped them with chainsaws, ladders and more to help them overcome the olive harvest hardships.
