In Papua New Guinea, detainees can go years without contact with their loved ones. Rugges terrain, distances and high cost of transport makes it impossible for families to visit dentention centres.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is helping detainees from Bougainville keep in contact with their relatives through facilitating family visits, helping to alleviate the suffering caused by separation.
