Description :
Min Htet Oo is three years old and although he suffers from a congenital impairment, he's never without a smile. In July 2018, he had his first prosthesis fitted at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) physical rehabilitation centre in Myitkyina, Myanmar. He was scheduled for a new prosthesis in May 2020 but the centre was closed due to COVID-19. His prosthesis is no longer suitable. Since autumn 2020, the centre is open again and Min Htet Oo will be able to receive his new prosthesis. When she accompanies him to the centre, her mother is very careful. She always comes with a facemask and hand sanitizer.
With his new prosthesis, Min Htet Oo moves and runs and plays everywhere. He can't be stopped! He has been an example for everyone in this difficult year. Determination, resilience, wrapped with the best smile!
In 2020, across Myanmar, ICRC have worked with some 2,200 service users at its centres asisting them with prostheses, orthoses, walking aids and physiotherapy.
