COVID-19, armed violence, climate change. The triple crisis in Mozambique has necessitated an increase of the humanitarian response of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 2020.
It provided essential household items, seeds and agricultural tools for displaced people.
Rehabilitated of five health units in Manica, Tete and Pemba, benefiting 100,000 patients.
Rehabilitated of the COVID-19 treatment centre in Pemba.
Supported sustainable agriculture in the prisons for improve food security for 800 detainees.
Facilitated 60 appeals from displaced persons in Pemba with their families and launched 160 searches.
Acted jointly with the Mozambique Red Cross Society and supported its work and the training of volunteers.
Promoted international humanitarian law with the police and the authorities.
In 2021, the ICRC will further expand its activities in Mozambique. to meet the humanitarian needs of the population.
