A victim of rape five years ago in Sange in the province of South Kivu in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Honorine* now shares her time between her work at the hospital, her restaurant and her mini-food business. The success of her various businesses, made possible with financial support from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has become a model for other survivors of sexual violence.
