Description : This brief documentary film, made as a television news story, shows how the leftovers of war are recycled to create agricultural tools in the Afghan capital under siege. At the instigation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), craftsmen manufacture shovels, sickles and clippers from the steel of destroyed tanks and aluminium debris of rockets. These tools made from salvaged materials are then distributed by the ICRC to farmers. By reactivating local skills and capacities, one generates income and restores the economy, instead of merely assisting directly the population affected by the conflict.
