Description :
1.5 million Afghans have some type of disability caused by armed conflicts, congenital diseases and accidents. Everyday over 100 patients come to the International Committee of the Red Cross' (ICRC) Herat Physical Rehabilitation Center. That's more than 36,000 each year with 14,000 of the patients being children. 70% of the center's staff are former disabled patients. Physical rehabilitation is not only about providing prosthetics. For the Afghan people it means hope, confidence and opportunity.
