Description :
Interview with João Kennedy de Pina, director of the physical rehabilitation centre in Canchungo, Guinea-Bissau, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
In Bissau, the Centre de Reabilitação Motora (CRM) cares for people with disabilities by offering them a quality health service. Thanks to ICRC support, the CRM has become a reference institution in the region for the treatment of people with disabilities from all the countries bordering Guinea-Bissau (Senegal, Gambia, Mali and Guinea Conakry), including mine victims from Casamance.
According to João Kennedy da Pina, the ICRC's support has been very important for the country in terms of the functioning of the MRC and the quality of the services offered to the beneficiaries. Through the RMC, the ICRC has also supported the Federation of Disabled Persons, enabling them to participate in the Tokyo Paralympic Games and in the commemoration of the International day of persons with disabilities, on December 3rd.
