Description : In sub-Saharan Africa, only 24% of the population has access to safe drinking water. If global temperatures rise by 2°C, hundreds of millions of people could experience chronic water shortages. The situation is worse in areas affected by armed conflict, of which there are many on the African continent. The impact of this crisis is significantly underestimated.
In 2021, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) helped more than 5 million people in Africa to get access to water through 400 rural and urban water infrastructure projects.
