Description :
Since 2019, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Alfaset Foundation have been pursuing a partnership for the manufacture and distribution of components for orthoses and prostheses for people with disabilities in countries affected by conflict or other situations of violence.
So when the ICRC wanted to develop and expand the range and quality of mobility aids, the partnership with Alfaset was an obvious choice. Indeed, Alfaset is a non-profit foundation whose mission is to offer employment and socio-professional support to people with disabilities, enabling them to improve their moral, material and social situation and thus promote their integration into society. Alfaset has already been manufacturing components for prostheses and orthoses in its own workshops for several years; until now, these were supplied to the ICRC through an intermediary. This is a direct partnership between the two institutions, which makes it possible to reduce production costs and promote research and development.
The Rehab'Impulse brand was born from this new model of collaboration. It is a Swiss social initiative, owned by the ICRC and launched in close collaboration with Alfaset, which provides scalable, adapted and high quality components for mobility assistance technology. The Swiss quality components are recognised by international standards and have been proven in the field for over 20 years. The products are provided at competitive prices, meeting the needs of users and service providers in low and middle income countries, thus taking the first step towards social inclusion.
