Description : The outskirts of the town of Beni, in the province of North Kivu in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), frequently receive several hundred displaced families fleeing armed violence in neighbouring villages. Under this demographic pressure, and faced with a limited supply of clean water, water has quickly become a rare commodity.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has helped the local authorities to replace rusted pipes and expanded the network. More than 11'000 residents have benefited from this project.
