Description :
On February 13rd, 1960, under the name "Gerboise bleue", the first French nuclear testing took place in the region of Reggane, in southern Algeria.
62 years later, what remains of this experience? What impact can we still see on the site? What past and present effects can be seen on the people, the fauna, the flora, the rocks? How can we tell the story of a place whose scars are invisible?
The deserted land, the silted-up village, the wind, and an eerie silence are the bitter witnesses of this tragedy that is still unknown today.
A witness remembers. A contractor for the services operating on the nuclear test sites, he was transporting goods in his truck from the port of Oran, in the north of the country, to the region of Reggane, 1,400 km further south.
On the day of the nuclear test, he noticed this light that pierced everything, even his house. Days, months and years later, the inhabitants of the region observe the devastating effects of radiation.
* For obvious reasons, the film was not shot in the potentially contaminated areas.
