Description :
Following intense fighting, thousands of families were displaced from Demoso, Hpruso, Pekon and other parts of Kayah and Shan states, forced to flee their homes and seek refuge.
Beyond supplying cash assistance to nearly 2000 people, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICR) teams provided hygiene and sanitation system support, which is crucial to good health, with so many families living in the same place. Water barrels, filters, soap and sanitation items, tarpaulins and other essential items were provided to 25 displacement site in Loikaw.
Alongside the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS), ICRC has been supporting people impacted by conflict in Kayah and southern Shan States since January 2022. More is needed in terms of a humanitarian response, and it hopes to return to Kayah soon, to reach communities most in need.
