Description :
In Kamamaung, on the Hpa Pun border of Kayin state, many people displaced by intense clashes need urgent assistance.
“We have been here for almost four months now – everything is challenging including living conditions and livelihoods,” said a Hpa Pun community member.
For our humanitarian aid to reach those most in need, the road is often long.
"From our Mandalay warehouse, we first transported four twelve-wheeler trucks to come to Hpa An. From Hpa An, together with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) cars, we continued the trip to Myain Gyi Ngu. From Myain Gyi Ngu, we used two boats to cross the Thanlyin river to reach the other side of Ohn Taw.
From Ohn Taw, we continued with two to three small cars to reach Kamamaung town." said ICRC staff member Naing Lin Wai.
From this journey, the ICRC were able to help some 1500 families. It plans to return again soon.
