The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) relentlessly to prevent and respond to humanitarian consequences as International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
As more people than ever concentrate in town and cities around the world, the horror and suffering from urban warfare will almost certainly increase.
Neighborhoods become frontlines forcing civilians to run for their lives or to shelter in place, amidst widespread destruction - often with nowhere safe to hide.
This reality is unacceptable. And isn't right. By working together, we strive to strengthen our collective capacity to protect and assist civilians, influence those who can make a difference on the battlefield.
The lifesaving impacts of humanitarian action is at the heart of the ICRC's mandate. It has a responsibility towards the millions of people and families whose lives have been or will be shattered by war : to mobilize its formidable strength and collectively ensure that devastation is minimized or even prevented in the future.
