Description :
Most people who fall victim to anti-personnel landmines suffer in agony, often alone. More than half die on the spot or in transit; still others receive inadequate medial care. Low tech, relatively low-cost care exists, but it is often unavailable. Prevention efforts -de-mining, education and ultimately a ban-are important. But even after a ban, there will still be victims. A war surgeon recounts his experiences and makes a plea for the victims.
