Description :
Htoo San Aung is a service user from Myitkyina Physical Rehabilitation Centre, in Kachin State, in northern Myanmar.
He is only nine years old. He was born with a condition that creates mobility challenges.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) first met Htoo back in 2018, when he visited the Myitkyina Physical Rehabilitation Centre.
Now he’s here to upgrade to a new prosthesis. His mother said "Before he received his prosthesis, he couldn’t move or come and go as much as he wanted to. Even though he is young, he has been through a lot. Now he has grown, and is getting a new prosthesis, he can move around so much better. He can go wherever and hangout with his friends. He can go to school. He can ride a bike."
Htoo San Aung and his mother are exciting for many happy things waiting for them in the future.
Across Myanmar, the ICRC have helped more than 2000 people with a disability since January 2022. This includes close to 400 people affected by landmines or other explosive hazards. This is just some of the work the ICRC do, serving all communities in need.
