Description : Day of the dead (DĂa de los muertos). Do you know what this is? November 2nd is a very special tradition in Mexico and other countries in the region, as we celebrate the Day of the dead.
According to the belief, on this day the souls of the deceased loved ones return to visit the living. Offerings are placed with the favorite dishes and drinks of those who died, which serve to quench their hunger and thirst. Bread, fruit, sweets and portraits are a must. The altars are decorated with CempasĂșchil flowers, for their peculiar aroma helps the dead to return home. Incense purifies the place. Candles are also placed to light the path of the souls and guide them to their homes. The Xoloitzcuintle, a dog made of mud, is placed to help the souls on their way and protect them in the afterlife.
Everyone has the right to remember their loved ones according to their beliefs and traditions.
