Description : The Nairobi regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) hosted the 21st annual All Africa International Humanitarian Law Competition in Arusha, Tanzania, from 20 to 25 November 2022.
Four preliminary rounds and the semi-final took place at the Four Points by Sheraton. The final round took place in the courtroom of the United Nations Residual Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals – Arusha Branch (IRMCT).
Ms Thimbile Segoete, a senior legal adviser at the Office of the Prosecutor of IRMCT, Dr. Robert Eno, the Registrar of the African Court of Human and People's Rights, and the ICRC head of the Nairobi regional delegation and and legal advisors presided over the final round.
The competition involved a total of nine teams from eight different countries, namely Strathmore University (Kenya), University of Uyo (Nigeria), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), University of Juba (South Sudan), University of Dodoma (Tanzania), Cavendish University (Uganda), Midlands State University (Zimbabwe), University of Hargeisa (Somalia) and Great Zimbabwe University (Zimbabwe).
